Join our instructor Una Bentley in the tranquil surroundings of Archway Health Hub on Saturday 10th November as she leads a one-off yoga workshop aimed at exploring the life cycles of women, through the menstrual cycle to the perimenopausal and menopausal cycles and beyond.Woman doing yoga

Due to the demands of everyday life, many women don’t give this key area of their health and wellbeing the attention it deserves, so this is an ideal opportunity to take a step back from everyday life to take some well-deserved time to take stock of your wellbeing.

Yoga for every stage of life

Many people practice yoga for the fantastic benefits it can provide to mind and body at every stage of life. However many women find that yoga can be particularly beneficial in finding balance and wellbeing throughout the natural hormonal changes that happen over the course of our lives as we progress from the fertile years of menstruation to the perimenopause and then menopausal stage. Each woman reaches each stage at different times and every experience is unique. However through the gentle practice of hatha yoga, women can find benefits to their health wherever they are on their journey through the life cycle.

Is yoga right for me?

Sometimes hormonal changes in our bodies mean that the last thing we feel like doing is making the effort to exercise. However, the gentle practice of relaxing yoga is designed to make you feel revitalised and rebalanced. No previous experience of yoga is required and there is certainly no expectation that you will be able to bend into bizarre shapes! Una’s individual, holistic approach means that everyone is free to practice at their own pace to get the most out of the workshop. As she focusses on improving physical health by teaching some simple yet effective poses, Una will gently focus on the life-changing possibilities that come when you learn to be kind to yourself and take the time to get in tune with your hormonal health.

What do I need to bring?

Loose comfortable clothing is best for practicing yoga and now the weather is colder, it’s a good idea to bring an extra layer for the relaxation session. You will also need:

  • A water bottle
  • A pen and notebook if you’d like to make notes
  • A blanket and pillow/cushion/bolster (for relaxation at the end)
  • A yoga mat and yoga block (spares are available to borrow)
  • A yoga strap (again spares are available or bring an old tie or scarf)

It’s best to leave 3-4 hours after a meal before yoga or 1-2 hours after a snack.

How to book

The workshop is on Saturday 10th November from 10am to 1pm and the cost is £30. Call reception on 01858 410 820 or book online here.
